LAS VEGAS TRUCKING

Dedicated Trucks for Las Vegas Shows, Resorts and Warehouses

Las Vegas freight runs on fixed times. Convention move-ins have set windows, resort docks are busy around the clock, and most freight comes in from Southern California on I-15.

HotShotTrucking.com books a dedicated truck sized to the load and sends it straight to the receiver. One dispatcher stays with it from quote to delivery.

Convention freight brings its own rules. Show venues set move-in times in advance, often route trucks through a marshaling yard, and can turn a truck away when it misses its slot. We plan the pickup and route around that window so your exhibit arrives on schedule.

These three trucks cover most Las Vegas loads. The sections that follow explain how Las Vegas trucking companies differ and which kind fits your shipment.

SHOW AND EVENT FREIGHT sprinter-vans

Sprinter Vans

A cargo van carries up to 3,000 lbs of exhibit materials, electronics and supplies. It fits loading zones that larger trucks can’t reach. Vans can often pick up within hours of your call. They suit last-minute exhibit pieces and replacement parts.

Box Trucks

A 12 to 16 ft box truck takes a handful of pallets, up to 5,000 lbs. A liftgate helps at back-of-house entrances without a dock. Box trucks are common for food service, furniture and resort supply deliveries. They fit most commercial docks.

53' Dry Vans

A 53 ft dry van moves up to 42,000 lbs of enclosed freight between Las Vegas and Southern California. A dedicated van drives straight through. Dry vans run between Las Vegas and Los Angeles, Phoenix and Salt Lake City. For longer runs, two drivers can keep the truck moving.

Exhibit crates for a show at the convention center, kitchen equipment for a resort on the Strip, pallets for a warehouse in North Las Vegas. Las Vegas freight comes in every size. This page is for shippers with freight to move. Drivers looking for work will find a pointer in the FAQ.

Las Vegas trucking companies fall into a few groups. Asset-based carriers run full truckloads, often to Southern California. LTL networks combine smaller shipments through terminals. Trade show and resort specialists handle convention and casino deliveries. Expedited and hot shot carriers send one truck for one urgent load, and freight brokers book any of these.

Ask first whether your load is urgent, partial or full, and who will drive it.

Las Vegas freight Freight corridors

How freight moves through Las Vegas

Most Las Vegas freight arrives and leaves on I-15, the main link to Southern California and north to Salt Lake City. US-95 runs north toward Reno, and I-11 heads southeast past Boulder City toward Phoenix. Harry Reid International Airport handles air cargo.

Warehouses cluster in North Las Vegas, Henderson and the Apex industrial area. Resorts, casinos and the Las Vegas Convention Center draw a steady stream of deliveries.

For a shipper, timing is everything. Resort docks keep strict receiving hours, and trade show move-ins often run through marshaling yards on set appointments. Summer heat can also matter for some freight. HotShotTrucking.com books trucks around those windows and keeps you updated.

HowWe Work

One Person, Start to Finish

When you call HotShotTrucking.com about a Las Vegas load, a real person answers and stays with it. That expeditor books the truck, confirms the pickup window and handles any change until the signed delivery. If a show move-in time or a resort dock changes, you call the person who already knows your shipment.

  • One contact from quote to delivery
  • Appointment times confirmed
  • Changes handled by the same person

WhatWe Provide

The Right Mode, Every Time

We start with your dimensions, weight and both addresses. That tells us whether the load needs a Sprinter van, a box truck, a hot shot, a flatbed or a 53 ft dry van. If a site has no dock, we add a liftgate. If the load is oversize, we plan for the permit. You get one quote for the truck that fits.

Las Vegas Trucking Questions Answered

What kinds of trucking companies serve Las Vegas?

Las Vegas has several kinds of trucking companies. Asset-based carriers run full truckloads, many of them on the I-15 corridor to Southern California. LTL networks combine smaller shipments through terminals in the valley. Trade show and resort specialists handle convention move-ins and casino deliveries. Expedited and hot shot carriers send one truck for one urgent load. Freight brokers book any of these for a shipper, which helps when you need a particular truck quickly, a backup when a truck falls through, or a single contact for several kinds of loads.

Should I use full truckload, LTL or hot shot?

Full truckload reserves a whole trailer for one shipper and suits large loads. LTL combines freight from several shippers in one trailer and moves it through terminals, which can cost less for small, non-urgent shipments but adds handling and less predictable timing. Hot shot uses a heavy pickup and flatbed trailer for urgent loads of equipment or materials up to 16,000 lbs. For urgent enclosed freight that will not fill a trailer, a dedicated Sprinter van or box truck is another option. The load's size, urgency and loading method decide which fits.

Can I get same-day delivery in Las Vegas?

Often, yes. Expedited carriers and brokers can dispatch a Sprinter van, box truck or hot shot for a load that needs to move today, as long as a truck is available near the pickup and the freight is ready. Within the valley, a same-day run is common. Same-day delivery to Los Angeles or Phoenix depends on the pickup time and the distance. The quickest bookings start with complete details: addresses, dimensions, weight, piece count and the deadline. Calling as soon as you know about the load gives the best chance of a same-day pickup.

Do you cover Henderson, North Las Vegas and Pahrump?

Yes. Pickups and deliveries can be booked anywhere in the Las Vegas Valley, including Henderson, North Las Vegas, Summerlin and the Apex industrial area, as well as Pahrump and Boulder City. Trucks are also booked from Las Vegas to any of the lower 48 states and back. For deliveries to residential areas, gated sites or locations with no loading dock, mention it when you request a quote, so a truck with a liftgate or the right size can be booked. Resort and convention deliveries should include the receiving hours and any appointment numbers.

How long does trucking take from Las Vegas?

Transit depends on distance, the type of truck and federal limits on driver hours. A run to Los Angeles or the Inland Empire is usually a same-day drive for a dedicated truck, depending on traffic at the Cajon Pass and in the basin. Phoenix and Salt Lake City are also within a long day's drive. Reno, Texas and markets farther east take longer. A dedicated truck drives straight from pickup to delivery, so it avoids the terminal stops that slow shared LTL shipments. Ask for a transit estimate with your quote rather than relying on distance alone.

What is the difference between a trucking company and a freight broker?

A trucking company, or motor carrier, owns or leases trucks and employs or contracts the drivers who haul freight. It holds motor carrier operating authority from FMCSA. A freight broker does not haul freight. It arranges the move by booking a licensed carrier for your load, then manages the shipment through delivery under its own broker authority. Many Las Vegas shippers use both. They call a carrier they know for regular freight and use a broker when they need a truck found quickly, a different truck size, or a backup when their usual carrier is full.

How do I check a trucking company's DOT number?

Ask the company for its USDOT number and, for interstate for-hire freight, its MC number. Look both up in FMCSA's public records. The listing shows the legal name, address, whether operating authority is active, the type of authority held and the insurance on file. Compare the name and phone number with the company you are speaking to, since fraudsters sometimes borrow a real carrier's identity. Then read its safety data and inspection history. A few minutes of checking before you book a Las Vegas trucking company shows whether it is registered and whether it is the carrier or a broker.

How do trade show deliveries work in Las Vegas?

Major Las Vegas conventions set strict move-in schedules. Freight usually goes either to an advance warehouse run by the show's general contractor or directly to the venue during a set target window. Trucks delivering directly often check in at a marshaling yard first and wait to be called to the dock. Missing a window can mean delays or extra handling. Exhibitors should share the show's shipping instructions, booth number and target time when booking. A dedicated truck makes it easier to arrive on time, since it carries only your freight and drives straight to the venue.

Do oversize loads in Nevada need a permit?

Yes. Loads that exceed Nevada's legal limits for width, height, length or weight need an oversize or overweight permit from the Nevada Department of Transportation before they move. Depending on the load, the permit can set the route, the hours the truck may travel and whether escort vehicles are required. Loads that cross into California, Arizona or Utah need permits from each state on the route. Shippers should give exact dimensions and weight when booking, so the truck and the permit can be planned together and the load is not held up at the start.

Where should drivers look for trucking jobs in Las Vegas?

This page is written for shippers, but many people searching for Las Vegas trucking companies are drivers. Drivers can start with the careers pages of carriers with terminals in the valley, CDL training schools and Nevada's state workforce agency. Local delivery, trade show and regional jobs on the I-15 corridor are common. Job boards list openings, and FMCSA records show a carrier's safety history before you apply. Owner-operators often lease on to a carrier or work with brokers. For shippers, the rest of this page covers how to choose a trucking company and book a truck.
